Raised in around 1857, possibly from the pip of a Blenheim Orange apple, Annie-Elizabeth, despite being a traditional English cooking apple, has a sweeter flavour than most other culinary varieties. Whilst Annie Elizabeth disappeared from many farms during the 20th century’s decline in orchards, it continues to grow strong at Welsh Farmhouse each year, producing a distinctive, medium-sweet apple surrounded by a beautiful and notable purple apple blossom.
